Ishiguro, Kazuo. An Artist of the Floating World . London ; Boston, Faber and Faber, 1986.
British novelist Kazuo Ishiguro, who was awarded the 2017 Nobel Prize in Literature, depicts the disruption and continuation before and after the war in Japan. The main character is a famous artist of early old age living in Nagasaki several years after the end of WW2. Some events involving his family members, such as his daughter's marital issues, lead him to recall some atrocities in which he was involved during the war. With the aid of his memory of the war, he decides to visit his old acquaintances. Japanese translation 浮世の画家 Transl. Tobita Shigeo飛田茂雄 Tokyo: Chūō Kōronsha, 1988. 中央公論社.
